 TOM WALSH
Cape Cod may appear a close neighbor to greater Boston and the South Shore on a map, but it is an entirely different world when it comes to business. Just ask Tom Walsh, the General Manager at Scudder-Taylor Oil in Hyannis. Tom has worked for the Fawcett companies for 23 years – his entire adult career! After working at Fawcett Oil for 10 years, the Concord native made the move south, when he was promoted to his current position. Tom handles a variety of responsibilities on a daily basis, including legal and insurance issues, managing all Scudder-Taylor personnel and overseeing customer service.
Since the Cape is among the nation’s premiere summertime destinations, Scudder-Taylor services many second homes. In fact, approximately one-quarter of the company’s customers are not living in their Cape home during heating season! This makes long-distance customer relations a necessity. Additionally, installation of the Freeze Protection Plan is a very popular decision for absent homeowners. These changing demands and unique challenges are what Tom enjoys most about his job.
Tom is active on the Board of Directors of both Massachusetts Oilheat Council (MOC) and New England Fuel Institute (NEFI). He is also a member of the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce, as well as the Hyannis Chamber of Commerce. He lives in Hyannis with his wife, Sheryl, and their two daughters, Jennifer, nine, and Samantha, six.
